Play with other people

Music is better shared. Alongside one-to-one lessons, James is planning songwriting workshops, jam nights, a beginner group course and a way for students to find bandmates. Tell him what you'd come to and you'll be first to hear when dates are set.

Why play together

Timing gets better fast

Nothing tightens your rhythm like playing with someone else. A few sessions together can do what months alone can't.

It's more fun

Most people start learning so they can play with others. This is the bit you've been practising for.

Meet people who get it

Other adults and teens at your stage, who love music as much as you do. No pressure, no performing unless you want to.

Common questions

Do I need to be good?

No. Every session is pitched so beginners can join in, and James keeps it relaxed.

Do I need to be a current student?

No. Anyone is welcome to register interest, whether you have lessons with James or not.

Where are they held?

At James's home studio in South Melbourne, with free street parking and a tram nearby.

What does it cost?

Prices are set with each date, and group sessions cost less than private lessons. Registering interest is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
