These are the terms for lessons with MCQ Music Lessons (James McHugh, ABN 62 103 386 186). They are written in plain English so everyone knows where they stand. By booking or enrolling you agree to them. If you are booking for a child, you agree to them on the child's behalf as their parent or guardian.

Paying for lessons

• Trial lessons, single lessons and packages are paid in full when you book.
• Weekly or fortnightly lessons: you pay for your first lesson when you enroll. After that, each lesson is charged 3 days before it.
• A lesson only goes ahead once it is paid. If a payment doesn't go through, you are emailed a secure link to update your card. If it is still unpaid at the lesson time, that lesson doesn't go ahead.
• If the payment then goes through after the lesson time, you aren't charged for nothing: you get a free makeup lesson to book within two weeks.
• If a payment is still unpaid 5 days after it first failed, your regular time is released so another student can have it. You can enroll again any time.
• Prices are shown on the Pricing page. If prices change, current students get at least 4 weeks' notice by email first.

If you can't make a lesson

• 24 hours' notice or more: move it yourself to any free time in the next two weeks (Monday to Friday) from My Lessons, at no extra cost. Each lesson can be moved once.
• Less than 24 hours' notice: the full lesson fee applies and there is no makeup lesson, because that time was kept for you.
• Group classes need 48 hours' notice, otherwise the full fee applies.
• Feeling unwell with cold or flu symptoms? Please move your lesson rather than coming in.

Going away (weekly and fortnightly lessons)

• You can pause your lessons for up to 8 weeks a year from the Pause or stop page. You aren't charged for paused weeks, and your lessons start again on their own when the pause ends.
• During the studio's summer break, billing is paused for everyone and you are emailed the dates in advance.

Stopping lessons

• You can stop weekly or fortnightly lessons any time from the Pause or stop page. There is no notice period and no fee for stopping.
• Any lesson you have already paid for still goes ahead. Nothing more is charged after that.

If James needs to cancel or move a lesson

• Your regular day and time is never changed without your agreement.
• If James has to cancel a lesson (for example through illness), he will tell you as early as he can. You choose: a makeup lesson at a time that suits you, or no charge for that lesson (a refund or credit if it was already paid).
• If a lesson ever needs to move to a different day, you are asked first. If the new time doesn't suit, you aren't charged for that lesson.

Packages and gift vouchers

• Package lessons are booked for dates within 3 months of buying. The same rules for moving a lesson apply to each one.
• Gift vouchers are valid for 3 years from purchase. The person using one picks their own dates and times, and there is nothing more to pay.

Group classes

• The price per person depends on how many students are in the class, as shown on the booking page. You are told before any price change, and you can stop any time.
• If you are the only student left, the lesson becomes a private lesson at the private price, and you are told first.
